Creative practice as a ritual and catalyst for personal and collective transformation.
In the Open Arts Dept. at NYU Tisch, I taught the inaugural semester of a course called ‘Imagining the Future of the Arts’ — investigating the artist’s mission and process across multiple creative disciplines.
For Accent Society, I proofread and edit essays and portfolios, and mentor writers in crafting works of creative nonfiction. I taught a workshop on adapting memoir into live performance.
For GlobalGirl Media, in partnership with Glasswing International, I designed and curated a summer training institute on journalism and documentary media for immigrant and refugee young women at the International High School.
As a teaching artist with Ping Chong + Company, I guide students through a process of creating theater through investigating personal narratives and community histories.
In an earlier chapter of life, I was the Operations & Programs Director for a 40+ organization youth services collaborative. I helped design and implement systems to strengthen collaboration efforts among leaders across New Orleans, working extensively on an initiative called NOLA Go!, an all-inclusive ‘smart card’ for people to access free public transportation, the library, and a host of cultural, educational, and health resources.
